MCGILL MULTIMEDIA ROOM
The Multi-Media Room (MMR) is an acoustics research center at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. A unique infrastructure intended for the study of sound, particularly during live performances, the MMR has exceptional and highly controllable acoustic qualities, necessary for the scientific studies for which it is intended. But this space, designed by the firm Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes, is also suitable for hosting concerts and musical recordings.
From the beginning of the project, Go Multimedia worked to offer the quietest solutions and proposed the integration of a trampoline-type floor at the CIRMMT (Interdisciplinary Center for Research in Music, Media and Technology). This device was not included in the original project (PFT) and was intended to solve the problem of hanging. Indeed, in its research, the CIRMMT must be able to suspend acoustic speakers and microphones in space and at any point. The transparency of the floor combined with a hanging grid located just above ensures this great flexibility of hanging.
Widely recognized as a cutting-edge technological space in its field, we are delighted to be able to associate our name with this exceptional project.
